My Crazy...er...Dysfunctional Life

I'm 34 yrs old and have been married to a pretty great guy named Kenny since Sept. 11, 1999. We have been inseparable since July of 1994. I can't chase him away! LOL Lucky for me! I am the stressed out mom of four crazy kids who I love with all my heart. We have a lot of ups and downs (mostly downs) and a lot of bad luck, but we have each other.

Slacking...

I know I have been slacking. I guess I can't think of much to write about. I lead a boring life. LOL

I decided I want to lose weight. I need to. I want to.

There is a problem. I love eating. I eat junk. Hate veggies. I am a junk-food junkie! I have absolutely NO will power.

I went back to the diet caffeine-free cokes today.

The pkgs of Hershey Kisses, 3 Musketeers and Paydays kinda ruined it......

so much for that idea

Just stop buying/making it. I know, easier said than done, but seriously, it's the only way it's going to work. That and support, support, support from everyone around you. Kenny, the kids, your friends, everyone. Not nagging, because nagging just makes you pissed off (ok, it makes me pissed off), which isn't constructive.

Trick yourself into eating fruits and veggies. Find some inventive recipes that will make them more palatable. Maybe broccoli with cheese? Green beans (fresh ones) with garlic and diced tomatoes. Fruit salad with fat free Cool Whip. Sweet potato instead of white potato (and no or very, very little butter). Whole wheat pasta instead of white. Whole grain breads instead of white. The more fibre something has, the more it's going to fill you up. Two pieces of high-fibre whole grain toast with low fat cream cheese or peanut butter will keep you full longer than two pieces of white toast.

I've been doing this for the last couple of weeks and my scale says I've lost 7 or 8 lbs.

The biggest thing, though, is to STOP beating yourself up if you fall off the wagon. Just get back on again and say "I'll start again tomorrow."

Ricki, drank it, too. As I ate hershey kisses. LOL

Julia, this may, well IS strange. I don't eat veggies. YUCK! I like whit potatoes, lettuce (in small quantities) and cucumbers. Thats it. I can eat a few shredded carrots in a lettuce salad, if there is plenty of ranch.

I love pasta, but can only eat the white kind.

I know, I know. I suck.

Kenny is NO support. He does not understand why I want to lose weight.

I will find something. cut out the candy, stick to the diet sodas. (I LOVE Mug Rootbeer! waaaahhhh)

It may take me a bit to find a balance, one htat works for me. But I will lose weight. I know it wont be quick.

Way to go on the weight loss!!!

Hey Angela, I'm with you on this one. I have been having a sweet tooth since I quit smoking and I need to do something very soon. I have a serious question for you though. Have you gone back to the doc since you had Savannah and checked your blood sugar stuff? We both should since we had that GD crap.
