My Crazy...er...Dysfunctional Life

I'm 34 yrs old and have been married to a pretty great guy named Kenny since Sept. 11, 1999. We have been inseparable since July of 1994. I can't chase him away! LOL Lucky for me! I am the stressed out mom of four crazy kids who I love with all my heart. We have a lot of ups and downs (mostly downs) and a lot of bad luck, but we have each other.

Stop being such a baby....

I mean, for goodness sakes, you WILL BE 14 months old on the 10th!

I don't understand. All of the other children her age seem like such toddlers! Little kids! Savannah still seems like a baby.

Is it the lack of hair?

The not walking?

I know she is delayed in walking. The ortho surgeon said it could be up to 22 months before she does. But, still.....

Yes. I did expect her to come out of 4 hip surgeries and 5 full-body casts, shake out her legs and start running marathons. She is ADVANCED, you know.

sigh......

I did have high expectations. She took to sitting up quickly. Then the crawling was not TOO far behind. STANDING(!!!) came next.

Today she held on the her crib railing and took 2-3 steps to the side!!! Baby, we have hit cruising!

She still gets the bottle. I am such a failure. I SWORE she would be off of it at 1 year!! She just drank out of her cup today. She has not been interested it it before. But, I am a failure.

Is it because she is small?

I don't know.

I think it's all of it combined.

sigh.....

I know I should not be rushing her and enjoying her. I do!!!

She just seems like the runt, ya' know???

(((hugs))) Ang. I know it seems hard now but just remember, you turn around twice and they are snotty teenagers and then we want to know where our babies went!

I have news for ya, there is no way Rebekah is going to be off the bottle by a year old.

Look at it this way. With all she's been thru, if having a bottle makes your little princess happy right now, then you are being a wonderful mommy by letting her have it. There is no harm in it at all.

Hugs

Isobel still gets a bottle at night. Not when she's in her crib because SHE'S NEVER SLEPT IN HER CRIB (aaaaaaaghhhh!) but she gets one before she has her nightly, two-hour scream fest.

Stop beating yourself up. You're a good mom and a good wife and a good friend. And hey, I like you, so you've got to be ok, right? ;)

Angela, stop putting yourself down!!! There are tons of babies the same age as Savannah who are still using bottles. Heck, KAty's 18 month old cousin is still mostly using bottles! And there are also plenty of babies not walking, so give the poor girl a break! :)
